Dorley House is a place where every resident’s privacy and dignity is respected, and their independence and individuality are promoted through daily activities of living. Our aim is to make everyone feel safe, comfortable and happy. We value everyone regardless of race, sex, disability, age or cognitive ability. Through knowing each of our residents' preferences and passions, we are able to enhance the quality of daily experiences. Our wonderful care staff gather as much information as possible from the resident or their families and friends to then incorporate that knowledge about the resident in their care routine.

We encourage visits from the outside world so that our residents are not deprived of their social life. We organize church services, summer and Christmas parties, sing along, canine visits, outings to Beachy Head, Hampden Park and the other beautiful sceneries around Eastbourne. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their time outdoors in our large back garden and be active with outdoor sports like badminton or simple ball games. During the summer, they are also able to pick berries in our back garden or go fruit picking in nearby farms. 

We involve the residents and relatives when making decisions about treatment and care. Along with regular care plan reviews, we safeguard the welfare of the residents by holding best interest meetings to ensure decisions are made for the benefit of the residents.

We complete a thorough pre-admission assessment to make sure Dorley House can meet the needs of the prospective resident. Our staff together with our Registered Managers work in close collaboration with the resident, their GP and relatives to create a personalized care plan in the best interests of the resident. 

We also offer assistance to personalise their room with memory boxes, pictures, photos and any other item with sentimental value to make our residents feel at home.
